Death Dealer – 18×24 Oils on linen
My version of the great Frank Frazetta character “Death Dealer” and a tribute to the legend himself. I paint mainly landscapes…technically there is a landscape of sorts in there.
When a I was a kid, an uncle of mine introduced me to the art of Frank Frazetta. As a kid who loved Dungeons & Dragons, heavy metal, and Conan The Barbarian, the artwork blew me away.
It was a dream for me to someday be able to create my own version of the Death Dealer as a tribute to the greatest painter in this genre.
Decades later, I have done my best to do so, after basically giving up.
I tried to do it in 2022, but I failed miserably and almost gave up for good. I put the failed painting where I could see it every day so that maybe one day I’d have the skills to do it justice.
This isn’t even comparable to the work of Frazetta but I really enjoyed finishing it.
If you look through my profile you can see two “master copies” of the Death Dealer, but that’s just me being a human copy machine. The problem for me was designing a scene of my own that worked.
Thanks for reading!
