Painting of Collared Lizard

Collared Lizard – 9″ x 12″ oils on canvas

Local resident from the Mill Creek WSA. These critters live in many different places in the USA, prefer rocky habitats, and come in lots of different “costumes”. The colors of this one are instantly recognizable if you live here in Moab or surrounding area.

One of the most difficult subjects I’ve painted recently, a little outside the box for me. I like painting landscapes because they are forgiving in the sense that features can be “off” and the scene will still be recognizable (or the drawing errors not particularly noticeable)

Summer is coming soon, and these guys like it hot. Thanks for reading.
