Thor’s Hammer – 16″ x 20″ oils on canvas

First painting in a long time I could not complete in one session. Heading soon to @moabmade for sale.

“Thor’s Hammer is the most iconic and recognizable hoodoo in Bryce Canyon National Park. Standing approximately 150 feet tall, this massive sandstone spire features a mallet-shaped capstone that resembles the mythical weapon of the Norse god Thor. It was sculpted over millions of years by a process called frost wedging, where water seeps into cracks in the Claron Formation’s limestone, freezes, and expands”
