Still Water – 16″ x 20″ oils on canvas
I painted scene this as a small study in 2023 (see my profile, it’s still on here) and since then I’ve tried a couple of times to paint it larger and failed. I changed quite a few compositional elements, so I’m not sure about that yet. The raft is in a different spot, the clouds are different, the middle ground is larger, the background more simplified.
I’m pretty happy with it overall. So far. Probably hate it in a few weeks.
Every time I try to paint larger, the work “tightens up”…it can drive a person crazy!
