“Sonja” – 12″ x 16″ oils on canvas
Portrait of my wife Katie’s beautiful mother Sonja, painted from her 1959 high school portrait – which is an old black and white photo. That made this one particularly difficult for me. I have tried twice before in the last few years to paint her, and even on this one I had to go back and repaint some features. It’s about 95% accurate likeness at this point but that last 5% still bugs me! Remind me not to try to paint a young woman or kids again for a long time.
